Technology to Explore Consciousness




The technique offered by the spiritual texts requires no external means and mechanisms. It is because the entire setup has already been fitted in our body. The only need is to discover the correct method of Dhyana.

Science and technology are on a swift rising trend.Besides exploring the outside magnificent world, the scientists have time and again tried to probe into the world of consciousness through their scientific tools and apparatuses.Let's take a brief look at some of the methods devised by the world of science and technology in this respect.

Edison's Method:

Thomas Edison-a name that holds to its credit a plethora of inventions amounting to 1093 patents! Besides working on different subjects, one of his research fields was -how to maximize his productivity and enhance his creative thinking.

For this,he practiced a method of relaxation which utilized the technique of hypnagogia. Hypnagogia is defined as a state which is experienced when a person is neither fully asleep nor fully awake.He hangs onto his consciousness,wherein he experiences bodily relaxation along with ease in a grip of cognitive focus.As far as enhancement of creativity is concerned,this state offers a benefit of emotional and cognitive wandering.In other words,while relaxing,a person is able to view a topic running in his mind from different perspectives and dimensions.

To avail these benefits, Edison adopted the practice of going for nap sessions. With some topic active in his mind,pertaining to which he wanted to explore more,he used to sit on a chair and rest his feet on the ground.Simultaneously ,he also held a steel ball bearing in each hand.Directly below the position of the hands carrying the balls was placed a metal saucer.The purpose of this set up was to prevent him from going into the state of deep sleep.Reason being , falling completely asleep meant loosening his grip on the ball,thus dropping it into the saucer with a loud bang- loud enough to wake him up. This method of relaxation helped him regulate the activity of alpha,beta ,and theta states . Actually, Edison wanted to keep his beta state active, which is lost when one falls completely asleep. This meant bringing his thought-set from the theta zone to his aware-mind,beta ,which is otherwise not active when one falls completely asleep. In this manner ,Edison was thus able to recharge his internal batteries.
